Swordsman Character Study/Painting

As usual, a quick character study that got out of hand and ended up a painting.

I've been exploring a more painterly process in recent months. Still a way to go before I find a balance between expressive brushwork and detail that I'm happy with, but I feel I'm heading in the right direction. I found making my own brushes helped me understand what I enjoy most about traditional art, and how I can potentially achieve similar results digitally.
